Project 1 Construction Contract Announced

The New Jersey Turnpike Authority has issued a Notice of Intent to seek qualified contractors for the construction of the new cable-stayed bridge as part of the first project, Interchanges 14 to 14A.

This notice serves as an early step in the procurement process, informing the construction industry of the upcoming opportunity. The contract is expected to be awarded in 2027 following a prequalification process for experienced contractors. The new Newark Bay Bridge will be built on the west side of Newark Bay alongside the existing Newark Bay Bridge. Construction is anticipated to begin in 2027, with completion targeted for 2031, when traffic will be shifted onto the new bridge.
